Cheese & Crackers Bento Box
A cheese and crackers bento box is the lunchbox equivalent of a charcuterie board for kids. It’s interactive, fun, and gives children the joy of building their own snacks. Arrange a variety of cheeses, crackers, fruits, and vegetables in a divided container, and watch your child enjoy the freedom to choose what to eat and in what order. It’s also one of the easiest lunches to pack.
Ingredients
- 4-6 whole wheat or multigrain crackers
- 3-4 cubes of cheddar cheese
- 3-4 cubes of mozzarella or Gouda cheese
- ¼ cup grapes (red or green)
- ¼ cup cucumber slices or baby carrots
- 2 tablespoons hummus or yogurt dip in a small container
- Optional: a few berries or apple slices
Instructions
- Choose a divided lunchbox container or bento box with at least 4 compartments. This keeps ingredients separate and prevents sogginess.
- In the largest compartment, arrange the crackers in a single layer. Place cheese cubes in the next compartment, keeping different cheeses separate for visual appeal.
- Fill one compartment with fresh grapes. Fill another with cucumber slices, baby carrots, or a mix of fresh vegetables.
- Place the small container of hummus or dip in the centre or in the remaining space. Pack it snugly so it doesn’t spill.
- Add any optional fruit like berries or apple slices in remaining spaces. The key is variety and colour — a rainbow lunchbox is more appealing to kids.
