Budget-Friendly Pasta Bake

A simple, crowd-pleasing pasta bake that uses affordable ingredients. Perfect for feeding a family on a budget.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb pasta (penne or rigatoni)
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 cans crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F). Cook pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain.
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with onion for 6 minutes. Add garlic and cook 1 minute.
  3. Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Combine the pasta and sauce in a baking dish. Top with mozzarella and Parmesan.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes until bubbly and golden. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
