Easy Rice Pudding
Creamy, comforting rice pudding made with simple ingredients. A classic dessert that warms the soul.
Ingredients
- 1 cup white rice (short or medium grain)
- 4 cups whole milk
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup raisins (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine the rice, milk, sugar, and salt. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
- Reduce heat to low. Cook uncovered for 25-30 minutes, stirring every few minutes to prevent sticking. The pudding will thicken as it cooks.
- When the rice is tender and the mixture is creamy, remove from heat. Stir in vanilla extract, cinnamon, and raisins if using.
- Serve warm or chilled. The pudding will continue to thicken as it cools.
- Garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg before serving.
Tips
- For a creamier texture, use short-grain or arborio rice.
- Add an extra 1/2 cup milk if you prefer a thinner consistency.
- Leftovers keep refrigerated for up to 3 days.
